And it\u2019s been a wild ride. Back then, we didn\u2019t have a proper CMS for PHP, let alone a blogging platform. The first release happened on May 27, 2003. It\u2019s been nearly two decades years since then, and WordPress has changed a lot. In honor of the 18 glorious years, the\u00a0EasyWP\u00a0team pulled together some of the most\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.namecheap.com\/blog\/wordpress-versions-jazz-musician-names\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>interesting facts<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0about the project\u2019s history, origins, and future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team members at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/yFj09mgRiKI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>EasyWP<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0are avid supporters of the now not-so-new block editor. When WordPress\u2019s founder, Matt Mullenweg, announced that WordPress will finally be transitioning to the new editor at a WordCamp in 2017, the WordPress community was both excited and nervous. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Named in honor of the inventor of the printing press, Johannes Gutenberg, this new editor, Gutenberg, is a work-in-progress that promises to make WordPress easier to use, more flexible for content creators, and more accessible for readers.
