WordCamp Kent has become WordCamp Northeast Ohio, and we are looking for additional organizers to join the team that will make our 2021 virtual event a reality!

The online WordCamp NEO will take place April 16 – 18, 2021 in the afternoons from 12 pm EDT to 4 pm EDT. If you’d like to get involved and help make this event successful, we encourage you to apply to join the organizing team!
Our organizers help with the following aspects of planning and running the event:
- Speaker organizing and communication
- Sponsorships
- Volunteer wrangling
- Branding and design
- Attendee experience
- Communication and social media
Organizers will be given responsibilities in one of these areas, based on the interests of the applicant and our needs. We will determine exact roles/responsibilities once all applications have come in. The deadline to apply is December 15, 2020.
Who Should Apply to be an Organizer
If you enjoy WordCamps and want to dedicate time to make them even better, we encourage you to get involved. Previous experience organizing or volunteering at WordCamps is helpful but not required.
There’s no single skill or characteristic that makes a good Organizer. We work with each other’s skills and passions, which combine together to create a strong team.
We will build our teams around our strengths, and we not only want to know about your skills and experience, but your interests and how you see yourself helping.
Organizing a WordCamp is a hugely gratifying experience, but it does take hard work. The Organizing Team will start planning WordCamp Northeast Ohio Region in December, and many teams will have weekly or bi-weekly meetings that run up until the event in April. If you are an organizer, you can anticipate your time commitment being a few hours a week leading up to the event. It may vary based on your particular role.
You must be happy working with a diverse team, communicating online through Slack and email, and dedicating your time on a weekly basis. Anyone joining the Organizing Team must abide by our Code of Conduct and treat one another fairly and respectfully.
